Strawberries – potential to prevent esophageal cancer

Research led by Ohio State University has recently shown the potential for strawberries to help in the prevention of esophageal cancer.  In the study, where the participants were asked to consume 60g of freeze dried strawberries for a month, 80% had a reduction in growth in precancerous lesions. Researchers are yet uncertain as to the specific property in strawberries which is slowing the growth of precancerous lesions but are speculating that it is the abundance of vitamins, minerals and phytochemicals which they, and many other berries, contain. Reseachers also stress that although studies were done with freeze dried strawberries, a daily intake of whole strawberries is hugely beneficial. Read More
