Great news for ImmiFlex as its principal ingredient, Wellmune WGP beta glucan from yeast, has been granted Novel Food Status by the European Commission. The granting of Novel Food Status followed review and investigation of Beta Glucans from yeast by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), which issued a scientific opinion on the safety of Beta Glucans from yeast. In the opinion of the Scientific Committee Beta Glucans were safe under the proposed conditions. However the Committee did not address in its opinion the safety of this ingredient for children below 18 months of age.
